The West Pasco Quilters' Guild 2022 Opportunity Quilt

"Hot Tamale"

        Each year, the members of the WPQG produce a bed sized quilt and sell opportunity tickets to the public to raise money for a local charity. There are many opportunities to view the quilt and purchase tickets, when the quilt is displayed around the community at different events. One or two members are chosen yearly to coordinate this project and they enlist the help of many of our Guild members. This is a two-year commitment as it takes one year to complete the quilt and another year to sell the 5,000 (plus) chances.
        This beautiful quilt, Hot Tamale, was created using the design by Karen K. Stone called Cinco de Mayo. Hot Tamale was coordinated by Rhonda Koning and created by many hands of the WPQG membership. Machine quilted by Rhonda Koning.
          Pasco Kids First Inc. is the charity that will benefit from 100% of the donations made on this quilt. Children and families experiencing child abuse in Pasco County will benefit from the funds raised.

Pasco Kids First Inc. mission is to keep kids safe, strengthen families through empowerment and enhance our community by preventing child abuse and healing children from trauma. Pasco Kids First Inc. is a private non-profit organization serving Pasco and Hernando Counties. They promote the awareness of child abuse and provide leadership to deliver the needed services to help children and families. They are a community based team of caring professionals devoted to improving the well-being of children. Their team is actively engaged in the prevention, assessment and treatment of child abuse and neglect.
